There, Casca could at last be herself again, far away from her abuser. There, Guts found a peace he had never known anywhere else.

And back in Falconia, Griffith became more and more restless and discontent as the years wore on. He had it all...his kingdom, Charlotte, everything he had thrown away the lives of his comrades for. And in the end, as the years stretched endlessly into long, intolerable decades, he realized that it was all worth less than nothing. He cursed Fate, he cursed the old woman who gave him the Beherit, he cursed the rest of the God Hand, and eventually the very Idea Of Evil Itself. None of it did any good.

He never saw Guts again.
