I was sent home Tuesday with a work-from-home rig, the tradeoff being that my entire schedule was moved two hours forward. Which actually hit my immune system pretty hard.
I took my temperature yesterday like I have been doing all week since this started, to find that it was 98.8. A few hours later, it was 99.3. Of course I started to freak out. But if this was a fever, it was broken by this morning. I've had no other symptoms. I'm not sure what to think, except that I'm prone to respiratory and sinus junk and this feels like that. I have terrible allergies, pandemic or no pandemic. But this was...odd.
I worked today and made dinner, and I'm about to go to bed. That's another thing...I realized today that when the panic buying started, my roommate basically got several pounds of of red meat, dog food, and also a bunch of candies, cookies, and snack cakes. I went out and doubled up on dry beans and rice, bagged cabbage shreds (better for you than lettuce) and also some frozen pizzas, food for my Suger Glider, and Ivory soap.
This isn't meant to be a judgement of Roommate other than a feeling of guilt that we're probably never going to be able to finish those sweets before they start going bad, and I don't necessarily want to. I shouldn't feel guilt about consuming stuff I didn't buy.
But they're worried about rationing, food shortages, marauding gangs and full-scale riots and purge scenarios, martial law and enforced curfews and FEMA camps. But I walked into El Rancho yesterday on trip to see if they had any rubbing alcohol to find it nearly fully stocked. They had toilet paper! (Except no rubbing alcohol.)
Our worst enemy right now, other than the virus, are the terrors that we imagine, and what those terrors might inspire some people to do. That, and Donald Trump.
