How I spend money.
Apr. 24th, 2021 10:22 amSo I've been living paycheck to paycheck for most of the past 20 years or so. But I've been analyzing how I spend money when I do have money to burn, due to the factors of stimulus checks + crazy overtime this year. This corresponds with the era post the Matrix Cult in 2006, when my situation for a year was no rent due to having to move back in with my parents for a while + crazy overtime, and the era in 2017 when I briefly was not having to pay on a car note.
Here are my findings:
- When I have expendable cash, I tend to catch on up dental work most of all, and it tends to be the biggest cash sink. I was finally able to do that this month thanks to being vaccinated. I was like a year overdue, but this pandemic dragging on forever meant I had to be vaccinated first before I'd even risk it.
- Paying off debts.
- New computer hardware. After 9 years(!) I finally replaced my motherboard, RAM and processor. I also picked up a new case from Frys before it closed forever (RIP Frys! /pour 40) But it's amazing that the Biostar AM3 motherboard and AMD Althon II Rana that I picked up in 2012 chugged along for as long as they did.
- Learning a new practical skill. More on this in future posts.
