Everything is horrible so I'm doing crafts.

:| The news out of Ukraine is horrible and we're long since past the point were Putin belonged *under* the Hague.

I feel dumb and escapist, but this is how I am handling the world being on fire right now.


I got this seax knife, made from a railroad spike, and wrapped the handle in blue leather.



Then I made a sheath for it from vegetable tanned leather:



Then I tried to dye it, but found out that some of the inexpensive leather dyes are a paint/dye hybrid. Oh well, if it comes to it I have enough leather to make another one.



My sewing machine broke, so I re-learned hand stitching and made a tunic. It's kind of dark charcoal grey fabric with green trim.





I also made costume leather armor but I'm not sure how I feel about it.



I made this reversible cloak (black/grey herringbone pattern.)





I'm working on a pair of Ghillies. More on that as they are closer to being finished.



I really wish things were not so awful in the world. I wish we could do something more about it. I wish we weren't at the mercy of a narcissistic genocidal thug with nuclear weapons.

I want to see Putin, Lavrov, Gerasimov (the one who came up with "hybrid warfare" doctrine), Dugin, Patriarch Kirill (who's providing religious "cover" for Putin), etc. in the dock at the Hague. In our lifetimes, please!

I am on Team Craft Away The Anxiety And Horror as well, so last week I made a pair of pants. The pattern is very roomy in the hips, and I will be dyeing them turquoise, so lets hope I wear them as much as I imagine I will.
