Mori: I remember when the Cybertrukk first hit headlines, how the sight of it made me irrationally angry, to the point I had to sit down and figurw out WHY, since even Hummer stretch limos hadn't gotten that big a rise out of me. At the end, I realized it was because the Cybertrukk was the power fantasy of the geeky rugged individualist surviving at the end of the world.

Well, now there's COVID, it's an end of the world, and I'm mad that my stupid gut grudge over the mentality of a dude producing a car seems to have been RIGHT.

I especially think Cat Valente's article expresses a lot of stuff that I've been flailing around trying to express for years. I wish we'd really known what was going on back when SUP was trying to buy LJ back in 2007. I wish we'd banded together with Russian Dissident LJ instead of all hecking off to Tumblr or wherever.
