I wouldn’t normally bring this up, but Chipman has a history of kidding-not-kidding-just-kidding-UNLESS? advocating the mass murder of people who disagree with his politics. That seems like something you in particular would want to avoid.
I see a lot of accusations of this from folks who disagree with his politics - mostly gamergaters, since he defended Anita Sarkeesian - but I have never seen any actual examples of this? Citation please? (links not images, or links to images.)
This is not advocating for mass murder. I see this all the time from people in his tweet threads, it did start with gamergaters pissed off he defended Anita Sarkeesian, and snowballed from there. Yeah it's harsh, yeah he is pretty much writing off people he disagrees with, but it's not "eugenics." It's not "advocating for mass murder." This is not an incel planning to ram pedestrians or an NRA nut planning to shoot up an abortion clinic. It's someone expressing extreme frustration for people who support a guy who puts babies in cages, perpetuates a system of racism, bigotry, homophobia, and transphobia, and did who actually just advocate for genocide via his betrayal of the Kurds.
But hell, by the metric of people accusing Bob Chipman of advocating for mass murder, I'm advocating for mass murder here:
I'm sorry if *I* came off as harsh. There have been times when Bob's "I'm sick of racist rednecks ruining everything for the rest of us because they don't want to live in the 21st century with the rest of us" rhetoric is off putting even for me, and I feel very much the same way. It's just I wasn't sure who you were, you had never commented on my journal before, and I'm just so used to seeing people being disingenuous and concern trolling about it on twitter. (Not saying that was what you were doing here, but that was what inspired my reaction.)
Between that and Contrapoints platforming Buck Angel (the guy who outed Lana Wachowski as trans to the media in the 00s because he was mad his wife left him for her) it suddenly feels like I'm not allowed to like some things anymore.
Thanks for letting me know. I think I can handle him okay, since I'm just going to be watching his "let me tell you my opinions of Kevin Smith and Michael Bay" vids, but I'll steer clear of his Twitter since that sounds a bit too much for me.
