Maggie Mae Fish | Fight Club: Cultural Fascism & The Colonization of Victimhood

It seems like so many people who saw Fight Club missed the fucking point, and came away with the idea that Tyler is some kind of modern hero demigod instead of a pathetic fucking narcissist. I hate it that our culture is currently venerating so many pathetic fucking narcissists. And I wasn’t free until I learned the word “duvet,” and that such a thing existed.

Oooh, looks fascinating. I'll give it a watch if I have the chance.

It's hard to tell what Chuck Palahniuk actually meant with Fight Club, tbh. The message that I get from it is a scathing satirical statement on toxic masculinity (note: I fucking loved it) and I was convinced that this was the point. But then I found out that Palahniuk was really into Landmark and it...may not be satire? I would hate to think that the dudebros were right in their interpretation, but then again, death of the author, the work still stands on its own.

Wow that was longer than I was expecting. It's a really good breakdown, though.
