Currently watching a panel video, moderated by Jessie Gender, about the folly of "apolitical" sci-fi and fantasy. Like, a pre-internet American audience might have been forgiven for failing to notice that the Ewok were the Viet Cong (but not for missing the obvious references to Nazis in the Empire's uniforms and the deliberate visual homage to Triumph of the Will) but I expect more sophistication from people who engage in Discourse, especially when the creators are right there.
