We interrupt the current total breakdown of society for this trip down memory lane.
Watching the Onceler fandom unfold on Tumblr from the relative safety of of the Tron and Homestuck fandoms circa 2012 was like:

I remember how it seemed to overwhelm people's Tumblr dashboards and the perplexed WHAT IS HAPPENING reaction for those who weren't sucked into the fandom. Which I wasn't. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss was like, a cautionary tale about environmental destruction, but you know, for kids! I remember the 25-minute animated feature from when I was a kid. Fleshing it out beyond the main story just seemed like a cash grab. But then it exploded and assimilated everyone's Tumblr dash like Smith assimilating everyone in the Matrix sequels. It was the first example of how Tumblr's format could completely drown out the content I wanted to see with stuff I wasn't even remotely interested in.
Damn I wish we could all go back to stupid internet shit like this again and not have to worry about the maniacs currently running things. Oh well.
