Import all the things!

 HOLY SHIT Y'ALL.

I just imported all my alts from the past twelve years of LJ usage. Except for the one Moorcock's Multiverse fanfic comm that I made which I only ever posted two WIP fics to, that did not have any followers. And those fics are now saved to Google Drive.

There were some accounts which I straight-up forgot I even had, until I ran into references to them in other journals. Some were RP journals from when I was active in the Matrix RP communities. I'm just so glad to get this out of the way. I'm still not quite ready to up and bahleet everything...but if LJ went away tomorrow, everything I care about saving is now backed up here.

In other news, I'm cramming for my Network +, Security +, and MCSA exams. I hope to get another data center job, but if I don't, I hope to get a job that will tide me over until I can get the certs to get one.

Life. Changing.

So, there is a way to import Flexible Squares from LJ to Dreamwidth, following these instructions.

I got it working on Dreamwidth. Just select "your custom style" after you're done pasting and saving and compiling the source code as instructed. I just pasted the color hex codes from my LJ theme into the theme color entries on my DW once that was done, and linked my background image in the theme settings. I'm going to go through the CSS later to see if there is a way to get it to show usernames and community names on the entries on my Reading page.

My LJ and DW styles are identical now! Now back to cramming for certs.

EDIT: There seem to be a lot of people who don't remember the Bad Old Days under G.W. Bush as President. As liable as Trump is to throw hissyfits, it's going to be that much worse over the next four years, assuming he doesn't get impeached: and since there are concerns that Vladimir Putin may be able to exert influence over Trump through his debts and business interests, and due to the fact that Putin's government in Russia has been suppressive of pro-LGBTQ and pro-Ukraine speech, it stands to reason that many of us who do remember are a bit worried right now about the impact to the 1st Amendment.

This is a post from 2004. That's how bad it was then, and that was just the G.W. Bush Administration. Now imagine things under Trump, from what we already have seen of his behavior. Yeah.
